Gold Grade (g/t) and Silver Grade (g/t)
What it means: Grade is the concentration of metal in rock. For gold and silver, it is measured in grams per tonne (g/t). One gram per tonne means that for every tonne of rock processed, you recover one gram of that metal.
How it is measured: Drill core is sent to an accredited laboratory. The lab performs a chemical assay and reports the metal concentration for each sampled interval.
Why it matters: Grade is the single most important measure of a deposit’s economic potential. Higher grade means more metal per tonne of rock, which means lower costs per unit of metal produced.
